Chumworld Arena
Game
Chumworld Arena is a first-person sword duel that runs in a desktop browser. You fight from inside a knight's helmet in a stone ring, steering a simulated sword arm with the mouse and your feet with WASD. The combat is CHUMWORLD's: the sword is held by a physics-simulated arm, the computer's knight moves through the same input a player gives, and a duel is settled by where the blades and bodies actually meet.
On top of that arm it adds a layer paced like Chivalry. Cuts, parries, feints and kicks cost stamina, and a fighter with none left is winded and slower until it recovers. A feint breaks off a cut as it draws back, a cut begun soon after one that met no blade winds up faster, a cut straight after a parry is a riposte, and a kick that lands staggers the foe and knocks its guard aside. Both fighters wear full plate. Plate takes most of a cut and some of a thrust, the gaps between plates take a blow whole, battered plate breaks off, and a limb still in plate is never severed.
Practice is a duel of best of three rounds against the computer's knight, with sudden death after 90 seconds. The ladder is seven opponents in their own armour, each harder than the last: winning a rung opens the next and lets you wear its opponent's look. Host and Join set the same duel against another browser, met by a room code or by pasted codes, and nothing loads from another site until you press one. Settings and ladder progress are kept in the browser, and the same save can be written to and read from a file.
It is a Builder project: a Rust core holds every rule, a WebAssembly shim passes values to the page, and the page only draws what the core returns.
Playing it
Move with WASD. Hold the left button and swipe to cut; hold the right button to guard, or press it as a cut draws back to feint. F kicks and Esc pauses. The game captures the mouse, so it plays on a desktop browser.
