Chumontillado
Game
Chumontillado is a first-person movement shooter for up to four players, built in the browser on Chumworld Arena's engine. Its figures are built from primitives as Chumworld Arena's are, and painted after the Spanish masters and Picasso in primed canvas, ivory black, ochre, vermilion and umber.
Movement comes first. You hop by holding jump through every landing, surf the slanted ramps, slide at a run and jump out of the slide for more speed, wall-jump three times a flight, and slam from the air. A speed readout shows how fast you are going. There are ten guns, five hitscan and five firing projectiles, and four melee weapons: the katana with its lunge and parry, the navaja, the guadaña whose hook pulls you to a wall, and the Puñal, which jumps more than twice as high while held.
A match is rounds of one life each, first to 5, on eight maps in turn, from the Plaza to the Alcázar, with weapons picked up off the map; from 75 seconds every position shows through walls. Play against bots runs a match offline. Host shares a room code or an invite link, friends take the other three seats, and bots play any seat left empty. Matches run on rollback between every pair of browsers, and nothing loads from another site until someone hosts or joins. The practice room has a slope, two surf ramps, a shaft to climb, straw targets and a bot that hops round the floor.
It is a Builder project: a Rust core holds every rule, a WebAssembly shim passes values to the page, and the page only draws what the core returns.
Playing it
Move with WASD and look with the mouse; space jumps, and Shift or C crouches. The left button fires or swings, and the right button is the katana's lunge or the guadaña's hook. 1 to 0 take a gun, Q the last one again, E a melee weapon and R reloads. Esc pauses and lists the controls. The game captures the mouse, so it plays on a desktop browser.
